India wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is looking set to return to action earlier than anticipated. The India star has not played a competitive game since the horrific car accident towards the end of last year. He last played a competitive game during India’s tour of Bangladesh in December 2022.
He was on his way from Delhi when his car hit the divider and caught fire. Rishabh Pant was lucky to escape out of the burning car and not sustain any career-threatening injuries. After surgery, he went to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for his rehabilitation and his speed of recovery has taken everyone by surprise. According to reports, even the BCCI doctors were stunned by the speed with which he was recovering.
In June this year, he started to walk without crutches and climb stairs without any support. In August, Rishabh Pant was also seen facing a few balls during a local match in Bengaluru. And recently, he even visited Uttarakhand for religious reasons, making it clear that he is having no difficulty in walking.

Talking about Rishabh Pant’s comeback, media reports have suggested that he is likely to return to action early next year. The home Test series against England which will get underway in January might mark his return to international cricket. With Pant being sidelined for almost a year, the selectors and the team management would likely to see him play a few domestic games first before returning to international cricket.
