Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull bashed Rishabh Pant for his T20 performances in recent times. Dull thinks that T20 is not the ideal format for Pant compared to ODIs and Test cricket.
Pant’s IPL 2025 season isn’t going well as he has just scored one half-century in 12 matches. Pant made only seven runs in the last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 19.
Simon Doull on Rishabh Pant’s T20 career
Simon Doull stated that the T20 format is the worst format for Rishabh Pant. Pant hasn’t done anything extraordinary, just like his Test career.
LSG skipper set huge standards in his initial IPL season,s but after he took his fireworks in the red-ball format, Pant never looked like same in the T20 format.
"It's his worst format, and they were desperate to go after him. He has had a poor season, and he has not set huge standards, really high standards that he has completely dipped now. He has just been an okay player as far as T20 cricket is concerned," Doull stated on Cricbuzz.
Doull praised Pant for his Test cricket performances, but Pant failed to impress the fans in the T20 format.
"He's an unbelievable Test match player, and sometimes you see the shots he plays in Test, you think that he must be a great T20 player, but his record would not suggest that he is a great T20 player," Doull added.
