Rishabh Pant joins unfortunate list of cricketers to be dismissed on 99 after Bengaluru Test heartbreak

India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has now experienced the frustration of being dismissed for 99 in Test cricket during the match against New Zealand. Pant became the 11th Indian player to be dismissed on 99 in Tests, joining an unfortunate group of MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly, and many more.
Rishabh, who joined Sarfaraz Khan at the crease, started the day confidently. Pant took the New Zealand bowlers to the cleaners and reached his half-century. Meanwhile, Sarfaraz dominated the bowlers and celebrated his maiden century. Sarfaraz was dismissed after scoring 150 runs on the fourth day.
The left-handed batter completed 2,500 runs in Test cricket in just 62 innings. Pant broke the previous record for an Indian wicketkeeper held by legendary MS Dhoni, who achieved the feat in 69 innings. The southpaw continued with his aggressive approach and came close to his well-deserved century.

Needing just one run to complete his century, Rishabh Pant misjudged a short ball from O'Rourke. The delivery took an inside edge of the bat and rattled the stumps.
