Purani Dilli 6 have confirmed the retention of India’s Test vice-captain Rishabh Pant as their marquee player for the 2025 Delhi Premier League (DPL) season. The franchise will continue with Pant at the forefront, but his participation in the tournament remains uncertain due to national team commitments.
The player auction for the 2025 Delhi Premier League is set to take place over two days in New Delhi. Notably, the men’s auction will be held on Sunday, July 6, followed by the women’s auction on Monday, July 7. The full tournament schedule will be announced after the conclusion of the auctions.
The DPL Serves as an Excellent Platform for Young Talent - Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant has been retained as the marquee player by Purani Dilli 6 for the upcoming DPL 2025 season. The left-handed batter played just one match during the league's inaugural edition.
Pant described the Delhi Premier League as a vital platform for young cricketers, crediting Rohan Jaitley and the DDCA for their role in developing the competition. He mentioned players like Digvesh Rathi and Priyansh Arya as notable products of the DPL.
“The DPL serves as an excellent platform for young talent to showcase their skills and much credit is due to Rohan Jaitley and the DDCA for successfully organising this league. Many players from across the country have emerged and developed through the opportunities provided by the DPL, such as Digvesh Rathi and Priyansh Arya, among others," Pant said in a media release.

Purani Dilli 6’s campaign last season ended in disappointment after the semi-final was abandoned due to rain. After retaining Rishabh Pant as the marquee player, the team is expected to strengthen its squad to become title contenders in the 2025 edition.

The Delhi & District Cricket Association has confirmed the expansion of the Delhi Premier League with the addition of two new men’s teams - Outer Delhi and New Delhi. These franchises will make their debut in the 2025 season, increasing the total number of teams from six to eight.
The second season of DPL will once again be hosted at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The complete schedule, including match dates and fixtures, will be announced following the conclusion of the player auctions.
