Rishabh Pant, one of the world’s most bold and daring cricketers, showed incredible courage during the fourth Test match between India and England in Manchester. On Day 1 of the match, Rishabh Pant got injured and fractured his toe while trying a stylish shot.

The Indian wicketkeeper-batter had to leave the field immediately, and many believed his England tour was over. But Pant surprised everyone. Even with a fractured toe, he came back to bat in the first innings of the drawn fourth Test match in Manchester.

The left-handed batter walked down the Old Trafford Cricket Ground stairs in pain and scored a brilliant half-century, showing his strong fighting spirit. The crowd gave him a loud shout-out and standing ovation when he returned back to the dugout.

After the Manchester encounter, Rishabh Pant shared a series of photos of his plastered leg on social media. He also gave an update about his injury, saying he is slowly getting used to the recovery process. Pant said that he will start rehab once the fracture heals and will keep working hard to come back.

Rishabh Pant wrote in a note, X: “Appreciate all the love and good wishes coming my way. It's been a real source of strength. I will begin rehab once my fracture heals and I am slowly settling into the process. Staying patient, following the routines, and giving it my 100%. Playing for the country has always been the proudest moment of my life. Can't wait to be back doing what I love.”

Earlier, Rishabh Pant revealed that his decision to bat despite the injury was all about putting the team first. The star wicketkeeper said that only winning for India mattered to him. He simply wanted to give his all, no matter the pain, and that’s why he batted through the pain in Manchester.

The Indian vice-captain was really touched by the support he received from the entire country, saying it was a moment of pride and emotion for him as the nation always stood by him during a tough time. Notably, Pant will miss the fifth and final Test against England at The Oval, starting on July 31.

Definitely, it's been amazing the way they backed me. The team is under pressure. Everything is there, but when the whole country stands behind you for the same cause, that is something. That emotion is difficult to explain, how proud I feel to represent my country.”
