Rishabh Pant's life saviour battling for life after suicide attempt

India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant's savior, Rajat, is reportedly battling for his life in a private hospital in Roorke. Rajat, a 25-year-old man, saved Rishabh Pant's life during the latter's life-threatening car accident in 2022.

Rajat tried to attempt suicide along with his 21-year-old girlfriend Mannu as their families didn't approve of their relationship due to the different castes. While Rajat's treatment was going on, Mannu could not be saved and unfortunately died on February 12 (Wednesday).

Why did Rajat and Mannu commit suicide?

The couple of Rajat and Mannu hail from Buchcha village, which is close to Uttarakhand. According to the local police, the pair were forced to take the step on February 9 after they found out that Mannu's parents had fixed her marriage with another man.

Both of them consumed poison together in a sugarcane field on their village outskirts. According to NDTV, the woman's mother has claimed that Rajat abducted Mannu and forced her to have the poison.

According to Dr. Dinesh Tripathi of Pragya Hospital, the pair consumed a strong pesticide. While Rajat is currently battling for life in the hospital, Mannu's family shifted her body to another place.

"Both consumed a strong pesticide. We began immediate treatment. Manu's family shifted her elsewhere, but Rajat is improving under our care," the doctor was reported as saying by TOI.

The police have started investigating the matter but no formal complaint has been launched from either of the families. The Superintendent of Police of Muzaffarnagar, Satyanarayan Prajapat, stated further legal action according to the evidence during an investigation.

Rajat saves Rishabh Pant's life

Rajat Kumar made headlines when he miraculously saved the life of India's star cricketer Rishabh Pant in December 2022. Another local resident, Nishu Kumar, was also present with him at that time.

Pant was traveling from Uttarakhand to Delhi via his Mercedes car. However, the car unfortunately crashed into a divider and caught fire. The accident took place near Roorkee. Rajat and Nishu reached the spot instantly and pulled out Rishabh Pant from the car.

Both of them called for medical assistance in an emergency. Pant showed his big heart and gifted these men with scooters to save his precious life by showing off their bravery. The wicketkeeper-batter was in critical condition at the time of the accident but was lucky enough to survive.

Rishabh Pant's terrific comeback

Rishabh Pant made his comeback into professional cricket after more than one year of his accident through the IPL 2024 edition. He had an excellent season with the bat and scored 446 runs in 13 matches at an average of 40.54 and a strike rate of 155.40.

Pant was even selected in India's squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 just after the IPL. India went on to clinch the title and Pant had played a key role during the tournament.

The wicketkeeper played for Delhi Capitals till IPL 2024 but will now appear for a new franchise Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025. Pant was signed by the franchise for INR 27 crore and became the most expensive player in IPL history.
