One of the People in My Discord Team Tried to Set Me Up - Riyan Parag
After months of silence, Riyan Parag reacted to the controversy surrounding his explicit YouTube search history in an interview with City1016 Radio. He clarified that the incident occurred before the IPL but resurfaced after the tournament when he resumed his gaming live streams.
However, after his successful IPL season, the incident gained more attention. When asked about the viral incident, Parag humorously responded, "I am h*tter."
"I finished the IPL, we were in Chennai, finished the match, got on a Discord call with my streaming team, and it got publicised now, but it happened before the IPL. One of the people in my Discord team tried to set me up before the IPL, but that got taken down very quickly. But then after the IPL, the hype was there, and I had a good season," Parag said while in a candid conversation with City1016 Radio station.

It Just Got Blown Out of Proportion - Riyan Parag
Riyan Parag said that he had no knowledge of the alleged explicit searches and added that someone had tried to set him up. He also stated that the situation was blown out of proportion and didn't feel the need to justify himself.
"I came and opened my stream, I didn't have Spotify or Apple Music. Everything was deleted," Parag explained.
"So I went on YouTube to put on music, and I searched for music. But I didn't know what was happening, but once I did the stream ended, I was like Oh s**t! This happened. It just got blown out of proportion. I didn't think it was good enough a reason for me to go out publicly and clarify everything and no one would understand," he added.
Riyan Parag Fails to Make India’s Squad for Champions Trophy
Parag had an outstanding IPL 2024, finishing as Rajasthan Royals' top run-scorer with 573 runs in 14 innings, and was the third-highest run-scorer of the tournament. He made his international debut in a T20I match against Zimbabwe in July 2024, followed by an ODI debut against Sri Lanka in August 2024.
He became the first cricketer from Assam and the northeast to receive an India cap. However, a shoulder injury sidelined him from India's T20I series against South Africa and England, leading to his exclusion from the Champions Trophy squad. He has recovered and made his return in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy.
The Rajasthan Royals rewarded him for his breakout IPL season by retaining him for Rs 14 crore. The right-handed batter has played in eight more T20I matches and one ODI for India.
