In what is the biggest positive news for the England Cricket Team, pacer Jofra Archer is likely to play T20 World Cup 2024. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Director revealed that the fast bowler is making himself ready for the showpiece event.

Jofra Archer arguably is one of the unluckiest cricketers in the world. Being touted as one of the fiercest bowlers, the England fast bowler has been marred by a lot of injuries in his career, which has forced him to miss a lot of cricket for the national team.

After the 2019 World Cup, Jofra Archer has been in and out of cricketing action as his elbow injury has been troubling him. He did make a comeback but his injury flared up once again and since May last year, the Barbados-born pacer is out of the action.

However, since then ECB has been managing pretty well. The pacer has been putting in hard work and is making a lot of effort to make a comeback. He was recently in India, playing practice games for Sussex, and is right on the track for recovery.

There has been a lot of speculation about whether the fast bowler will play for England in the T20 World Cup 2024 or not. The tournament will be played in the United States of America and the Caribbean in the month of June and his presence will be a massive boost for the team if he plays.

Rob Key revealed that Jofra Archer is absolutely in contention for the T20 World Cup 2024. He highlighted his pre-season camp with Sussex and added that he is now playing club cricket in the Caribbean, making himself ready.

Rob Key further claimed that they are eyeing the series against Pakistan as a comeback window for Jofra Archer but they are keeping their fingers crossed. Speaking to Sky Sports, he explained:

"Absolutely. Jofra has been out with Sussex in India for pre-season and bowled quickly out there, bowled really well. He has now gone back to the Caribbean where he's going to play a bit of club cricket, all looking to get himself ready for the T20 World Cup. He'll hopefully play in the series against Pakistan [in May], but it's always fingers-crossed at the moment with Jofra."

Plan with Jofra Archer is he's going to play white-ball cricket this summer - Rob Key

Rob Key further revealed the plan about Jofra Archer, saying that they are taking things slowly which will allow them to have the services of a pacer for a long period of time.

The ECB director of cricket further stated that they will be allowing the pacer to play white-ball cricket this year and then will ease him into red-ball cricket soon. He added:

"We're going to take it slower so that we get him back for not just a short period but we get him for a long period. The whole plan with Jofra is he's going to play white-ball cricket this summer and going into the winter. Then hopefully next summer, when we play India and then into the Ashes later that year, we get him back for Test cricket."

It remains to be seen when will Jofra Archer make a comeback for England in white-ball cricket.
