Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma is in total awe after having witnessed Finn Allen's innings against South Africa in the first semi-final. He said that at times players have to take their chances and be brave, and Allen has been brave, thus sending a prior warning to the Men in Blue.
India have made its way into the T20 World Cup final, but every Indian fan would agree that India's bowling performance has been comparatively poor. Had it not been for the two special innings from Sanju Samson, India's campaign would have ended long ago.
While New Zealand's strong batting department haunted South Africa, India were disappointed by their bowlers, who managed to help India win the semi-final by just 7 runs after their batters put 254 on the board.
Finn Allen was really, really brave - Rohit Sharma
New Zealand dropped Devon Conway, one of their most renowned batters, and backed Tim Seifert to open alongside Finn Allen. He has been in beast mode ever since his return, as he started with an 80 in the final game of the series against India, just before the T20 World Cup.
He then went on to be the highest scorer for New Zealand and marched them into the finals with a blistering century against the Proteas that came with a strike rate of over 300. The former Indian captain has hence marked him as a very brave cricketer.
"Finn Allen has a reputation for going and playing like that. He has fantastic skill sets, and he used them to his best advantage. I thought the way he played, again, was very clear in his mind; he took his chances," said Rohit Sharma.
"And yeah, sometimes, you know, in this format you've got to be brave, and Finn Allen was really, really brave to take those chances. It really paid off for him," the former Indian captain lauded the NZ opener's remarkable abilities.

Allen ignored the 'Jasprit Bumrah threat' ahead of the T20 World Cup clash
Ahead of the big clash, New Zealand opener Finn Allen was asked about his strategy to handle Jasprit Bumrah's threat in the T20 World Cup final. However, to all amazement, he said that he believes more in playing the ball than the bowler.
He showed how the New Zealand dressing room is never overpreparing but keeping their focus on simple things against the biggest challenges. The pacer might not have been at his very best in this World Cup, yet he is the epitome of India's attack, and Allen is still not bothered.
The subtle confidence might have also come from the historic innings he played against India in his last game before the T20 World Cup began, where Bumrah went for his career worst 0/58 in his four overs.
Jasprit Bumrah or Varun Chakravarthy: Who would India need to fire to retain World Cup glory?
Indian batters have been winning games for them this World Cup; however, on big occasions, the bowlers have a very important role to play. While Jasprit Bumrah has been economical and wicket-taking, he hasn't been the version that got him the POTS last time in 2024; on the other hand, Varun Chakravarthy, the no. 1 T20I bowler currently, has been a total mess.
For India to emerge victorious in the final and retain the title as the defending champions, both these players would have a massive role to play. While Jasprit will be crucial against the death hitters of New Zealand, Chakravarthy would have to pick the big fishes Allen and Seifert, who are not much intimidated by pace bowling.
