Rohit Sharma forced to undergo Bronco test on this date as Gautam Gambhir strikes

India's ODI captain Rohit Sharma will report at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru on the 13th of September for his fitness assessment tests, which will include the Yo-Yo as well as the Bronco Tests, before any decision can be made over his fate in international cricket.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has retired from the other two formats of the game and is now set to feature only in ODIs. However, ever since his Test retirement and Shubman Gill's success as a Test skipper in the first series, there has been a buzz around the possible snub of Rohit from the Indian One-day side.
Rohit Sharma to undergo fitness test from the 13th of September
As per reports in The Times of India, the BCCI has summoned Rohit Sharma for the fitness check, and he has been asked to report on the 13th of September.
"Yes, Rohit will be at the BCCI's CoE from September 13 for fitness tests. He will be based here for two to three days and will also practice at the facility to fine-tune his preparations for the Australia white-ball tour in November," the report read.
Alongside the press-decided tests, which also included the well-known Yo-Yo Test, Rohit will have to undergo the newly introduced Bronco test, which has been included in the Indian fitness regime.
"With the CoE also staging the Duleep Trophy final at its main ground (A) from September 11-15, Rohit will undergo fitness tests and train at a different ground at the same facility," the report added.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to feature for India A against Australia A
Indian batter Rohit Sharma, alongside veteran batter Virat Kohli, has been reported to feature in the India A playing XI for the three-match ODI series against Australia A, which starts on the 30th of September.
The first match will be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on the 30th of September, followed by two more games on the 3rd and 5th of October. This series would mark as the preparation for Rohit and Virat as they prepare for the upcoming ODI series against Australia starting on the 19th of October.
Rohit is training alongside Abhishek Nayer ahead of his return
Ever since Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the Test format, his international outings have come to a halt alongside Virat Kohli. This is because India was busy with the red-ball format and will now resort to the 20-over format for the Asia Cup.
The 38-year-old batter last played a competitive match against the Punjab Kings in the IPL as he was part of the Mumbai Indians side. On the other hand, he last played for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final, where Rohit was the player of the match.
He has been reported to train under the assistance of his former teammate, friend, and ex-India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar at the MCA.
