Rohit Sharma hints at ODI retirement; international career over?

June 23 holds special significance for Rohit Sharma, as his international cricket journey began with an ODI against Ireland in Belfast in 2007. After completing 18 years in international cricket, the veteran Team India batter expressed his gratitude for the long and rewarding journey.
Sharma is one of the all-time greats for India over the last 18 years. The right-handed batter has already retired from Test cricket and ODIs, having represented the national team in 67 Tests and 273 ODIs, respectively. However, he is hoping to continue in the ODI format until the next World Cup in 2027.

On Monday, Rohit Sharma took to Instagram to express his gratitude for completing 18 years in international cricket. He posted a photo of his helmet and simply captioned it: "Forever grateful 23.06.07"

Rohit Sharma Has Scored Over 19,000 Runs in International Cricket
Rohit Sharma has scored over 19,000 runs in international cricket across formats. He is known for his effortless timing and ability to convert starts into big scores. Rohit holds the record for the highest individual score in ODIs, having scored an unbeaten 264 against Sri Lanka.
He has been instrumental in shaping India’s white-ball dominance over the last decade. Rohit has led India in all three formats of the game. Under his leadership, the team has not only maintained a high win percentage but also shown consistency in global tournaments.
The 37-year-old batter ended India’s ICC trophy drought with a victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 held in the Caribbean islands and the United States of America (USA). He then guided the team to another ICC trophy win in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Rohit Sharma Vacations With Family in Abu Dhabi After IPL 2025
Following the end of the IPL 2025 season, Rohit has taken a break from cricket and is currently vacationing in Abu Dhabi with his family. He shared a photo on Instagram featuring his wife Ritika Sajdeh, daughter Samaira, and other family members from the holiday.
Rohit had a decent outing with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. He scored 418 runs in 15 matches, including four half-centuries, with a best score of 81. After the marquee tournament, he was spotted at the Wankhede Stadium attending the T20 Mumbai League 2025.
Rohit recently announced his retirement from Test cricket. He is not part of the Indian squad currently touring England for the five-match Test series. The opening batter represented Team India in 67 matches, scoring 4,301 runs at a decent average of 40.57, including 12 centuries and 18 fifties.
