Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers shared his thoughts on the ICC World Cup 2023 Final between India and Australia. AB de Villiers acknowledged the Australian team’s knack for winning World Cups but recognized the challenge they face against Team India.

India and Australia will lock horns in the World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19. The Aussies are the most successful team in World Cup history, winning five titles out of the seven finals they have played in ODI cricket.

They Just Know How To Win Knockout Matches – AB de Villiers

In a video shared on his social media account X (formerly Twitter), AB de Villiers expressed his excitement for the World Cup Final. De Villiers described the venue as a fantastic stadium and predicted an incredible final.

“Cricket World Cup 2023 Final on 19th November, Australia-India at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. I’ve played there on numerous occasions. What a fantastic stadium. It’s going to be an incredible final.”

“The very experienced Australian team, in the sense of having won a lot of World Cups and knowing how to finish games, showed that against South Africa. They just know how to win knockout matches, but they’re playing against a steamrolling team from India,” AB de Villiers said.

Rohit Sharma Has Been Giving Them Great Starts – AB de Villiers

AB de Villiers praised India’s exceptional performance in the World Cup, highlighting the significant contributions of Rohit Sharma in providing strong starts. De Villiers acknowledged Sharma’s role in taking pressure off other batters.

“They’ve been playing the cricket of their lives in such a great lineup, led often by Rohit Sharma, who’s been giving them great starts and really taking the pressure off Gill and also Kohli. Kohli comes in every time with the run rate being seven or eight, and he can really get himself in, play around a ball, and play his natural game,” De Villiers added.

Virat Kohli is the leading run-getter in the ongoing World Cup, scoring 711 runs in 10 games at an average of 101.57. Kohli has smashed three centuries and five half-centuries so far. Rohit Sharma scored 550 runs in 10 matches at an average of 55 and a strike rate of 124.15.
