India will play their next three games in the ODI series against South Africa, and Indian legend Rohit Sharma is back in Mumbai, gearing up to prepare for the series after his return from Australia. This series would mark Rohit's return to an ODI game on Indian soil.

India's star batter Rohit Sharma, alongside Virat Kohli, made his much-awaited return to international cricket against Australia and looked in great touch with the bat. Though India lost the series, it was a comprehensive comeback for the two veteran Indian stars.

Virat Kohli flew back to London to his family, and Rohit Sharma, alongside others who were not part of India's T20I campaign, flew back to India the day after the final match was concluded at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Rohit Sharma spotted in Mumbai nets ahead of South Africa series

Ever since the former Indian captain, who won two consecutive ICC titles for India and led them to three consecutive ICC finals, decided to call it off in the T20I and Test formats for India, a sight of him has become rarer and rarer.

India's next assignment in ODI cricket comes against South Africa, and taking advantage of the home series, Sharma made a visit to the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team at home and joined them for a session in the nets.

He arrived at the MCA-BKC Ground in the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai, where the Mumbai team was featured in their fourth Ranji Trophy game of the season against Himachal Pradesh. He was spotted alongside former teammate and now coach Dhawal Kulkarni, who was behind reserve bowlers in the nets when the match continued at the venue.

Rohit is guiding young talents from Mumbai

After his return from Australia, Sharma has been seen actively involved with Indian cricket, unlike Virat Kohli, who nowadays relishes family time in London and likes to keep a low profile. Rohit was seen supporting the Indian Women's team as they lifted their maiden World Cup at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Rohit was not seen with his regular training kit and was rather spotted in a more relaxed persona, wearing light athletic wear and shorts. He was reportedly there for some conversations with the young Mumbai cricketers. The veteran batter was not there for practice, as he just made a few sprints in the form of a regular warm-up.

Rohit Sharma tries to stay in form until the next World Cup

Rohit Sharma, the 38-year-old legendary Indian ODI batter, is the third-highest run-getter for India in the format with 11370 runs in a 50-over contest. He is also the 9th-highest scorer in the World in terms of the 50-over format.

Rohit Sharma made his comeback to the ODI format in India's tour of Australia, after he announced his retirement from the two other formats of international cricket. He scored 202 runs in the series over three games and batted with an average of 101.

The batter would have to keep his form intact until the veteran participates in the ICC ODI World Cup 2027. The player would be 40 years old by then and has considered fitness over age, as he had lost 11 kg ahead of the Australia tour. He will look to continue his sheer good form until the next World Cup.
