Indian legendary batter and now one of the most successful limited-overs captains, Rohit Sharma, recently made a huge statement on their wins in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, preceded by a win against Pakistan.
The ex-Indian T20 skipper made a recent appearance in a Star Sports show named 'Champions wali Feeling Phir Se,' where he openly spoke about India's campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup victory.
Rohit Sharma was seen exclaiming his strategies for the match against Pakistan
"We wanted them to chase. Mere paas Bumrah ke saath saath Arshdeep bhi hai (Other than Bumrah, I also had Arshdeep)," Sharma was quoted in his fluent Hinglish.
India could manage only 119 runs while batting first in their 20 overs, as Rishabh Pant was the top scorer with 42 runs. However, despite fewer runs scored, the Indian Pacers pulled out a stunning win, defending the target and winning by a margin of 6 runs. Jasprit Bumrah was their best performer with 3 wickets.
However, Rohit said India could not stop at just winning against Pakistan, as they were looking to win the ICC title after a wait of 17 years.
"Agar Pakistan ko hara diya aur World Cup nahin jeeta, toh chalega? Nahi chalega (If we beat Pakistan and do not win the World Cup, will it be okay? It's not okay)," Rohit said.
