Rohit Sharma Named Captain, Kuldeep Yadav Ruled Out As Dinesh Karthik, Parthiv Patel, And Simon Doull Picks Their World Cup Team Of The Tournament

Former cricketers Simon Doull, Dinesh Karthik, and Parthiv Patel have picked their combined team of the tournament for the ICC World Cup 2023. The trio revealed their XI during an interaction on Cricbuzz ahead of the semi-finals of the mega event. 

Simon Doull, Dinesh Karthik, and Parthiv Patel picked Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma as the openers for their team of the tournament. Both batters are amongst the leading run-getters in the tournament and have played a huge role for their team throughout the league stage. 

While Quinton de Kock has scored 591 runs at an average of 65.66, Rohit Sharma has amassed 503 runs at an average of around 56. They also backed the Indian captain to be the skipper of their team as they believed that he was by far the best skipper of the tournament. 

Rachin Ravindra also made the cut into their team of the tournament. Simon Doull, Dinesh Karthik, and Parthiv Patel lavished rich praise on the batter for the way he has batted in the tournament. The young New Zealand batter has scored 565 runs in 9 innings at an average of over 70. 

Virat Kohli was also picked by the trio. The right-hander is the leading run-getter of the tournament with 595 runs to his name. Simon Doull, Dinesh Karthik, and Parthiv Patel were confused about the batting position of him and Rachin Ravindra, and therefore their position will depend on which opener will get out first. 

For No.5 they were stuck for choices between Heinrich Klaasen, Ben Stokes, and Daryll Micthell. However, they backed the South African wicketkeeper because of what he has done throughout the tournament. The keeper-batter has scored 326 runs in 9 innings at an average of over 40. 

Simon Doull, Dinesh Karthik, and Parthiv Patel were on the same page for the No.6 slot. They picked Glenn Maxwell, saying that he deserves to be in any team because of his batting and bowling ability. He has scored 397 runs in 7 matches at an average of around 80. Apart from this, he has also picked 5 wickets at an economy of under 10. 

Ravindra Jadeja made a cut into the team at No.7 because of his batting and bowling ability. At No.8, they backed Adam Zampa, who is the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 22 wickets to his name. The trio also backed Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah to be the two pacers in the team along with Marco Jansen, who has picked 17 wickets and also has scored 157 runs with the bat.
