Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has shared an emotional tribute to outgoing head coach Rahul Dravid after the Men in Blue's victory in the T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit Sharma stated that he has learned so much from Rahul Dravid and every memory will be cherished from their time with the Indian cricket team.
Rahul Dravid ended his tenure as head coach of the Indian team with the T20 World Cup 2024 victory. The former Indian skipper decided not to apply for a second term with the senior team. The Men in Blue lifted their second T20 World Cup with a seven-run victory over South Africa in Barbados on June 29.
The former Team India head coach made his international debut for India in 1996. He represented India across formats until 2012. Dravid failed to clinch a World Cup trophy in his playing career. He finally lifted the World Cup trophy as head coach, and the joy was evident on his face during the celebrations.

My Wife Refers To You As My Work Wife - Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma mentioned his wife refers to Rahul Dravid as his "work wife." The Indian skipper said that he cherished every memory with Dravid. The 37-year-old highlighted the joy of achieving the T20 World Cup together, which was a missing accolade in Dravid's career.
"Since my childhood days I have looked up to you just like billions of others but I was lucky enough to get to work with you this closely. You are an absolute stalwart of this game but you left all of your accolades and achievements at the door and walked in as our coach and came on a level where we all felt comfortable enough to say just about anything to you. That is your gift, your humility and your love for this game even after all this time. I have learnt so much from you and every memory will be cherished. My wife refers to you as my work wife and I’m lucky to get to call you that too," Sharma added.
"This was the only thing missing from your arsenal and I’m so happy that we got to achieve it together. Rahul bhai it has been an absolute privilege to get to call you my confidant, my coach and my friend," Rohit concluded.
Rohit Sharma achieved his first major success as captain by leading India to victory in the T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit ended an 11-year ICC trophy drought for the team. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has announced Rohit will lead the 2025 Champions Trophy and ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final match.
