Vaibhav Suryavanshi, on Monday (April 29), truly announced his arrival in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by smashing a historic century for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans.

The youngster became the youngest ever player to score a century in men's T20s as Rajasthan Royals beat Gujarat Titans by eight wickets to return to winning ways after five losses in a row. He also smashed the fastest IPL century by an Indian as he reached the milestone in just 35 balls.

Gujarat Titans' IPL campaign deflated

Batting first, the Titans posted a big total of 209/4 in the allotted 20 overs. Shubman Gill starred with the bat for the Titans, scoring 84 runs off 50 balls, while Jos Buttler scored an unbeaten 50 off 26 balls.

With the Royals struggling while chasing in recent games, not many were expecting them to chase down a 200-plus total, especially at a venue where a 200-plus total was chased down only once in the past. However, the Royals chased down the big total inside 16 overs and by losing just two wickets, thanks to Vaibhav Suryavanshi's century.

He scored 101 runs off 38 balls with the help of 7 fours and 11 sixes. The left-handed batsman also shared a decisive partnership of 166 runs with his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal, who remained unbeaten on 70.
