India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma looked at his very best in the second ODI of the three-match series against England National Cricket Team at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday, February 9.
Rohit Sharma played a sensational innings that helped him create history and surpass the likes of Chris Gayle and Rahul Dravid in legendary ODI lists.
Rohit Sharma smashes spectacular ton
The Indian skipper was at the receiving end of heavy criticism over his poor form in international cricket for a long period of time. He was struggling with the bat, both against pacers and spinners, and some experts felt that it had affected his ability to make decisions as a leader.
However, Rohit Sharma decided to shut down his critics in style by playing an amazing innings in the second ODI against the Jos Buttler-led side.
He looked in control right from the start of his innings and played his natural attacking brand of cricket. Smashing 4 fours and 4 sixes, he completed his fifty off just 30 balls.
Rohit did not stop there as he got a little cautious and then reached the triple-figure mark off just 76 balls, with 9 fours and 7 sixes. He didn't celebrate his return to form wildly and just calmy raised his bat with a satisfied look on his face.
His innings ended in the 30th over when he was unable to dispatch a full toss from Liam Livingstone past the boundary line. He walked back to a standing ovation from the crowd after scoring 119 runs off 90 balls.
