Speculations have been around Indian skipper Rohit Sharma's future with the Mumbai Indians (MI) team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). There is uncertainty regarding whether Rohit Sharma will continue with the Mumbai Indians team or not for the Indian Premier League 2025 season.

After Hardik Pandya was appointed captain, there was speculation that Rohit might no longer play for the Mumbai Indians team. This was fueled by a viral video where Sharma said, "Bhai mera kya, mera toh yeh last hai," in a viral video with his former domestic teammate Abhishek Nayar.

MI acquired Hardik Pandya from the Gujarat Titans through a trade before IPL 2024. Pandya was appointed as captain, replacing the five-time IPL-winning captain. This decision upset many Mumbai Indians fans and Rohit' supporters, leading to backlash on the field and on social media.

Rohit Sharma's Next International Assignment: Bangladesh Tests

Rohit announced his retirement from T20I cricket after leading the team to the title during the T20 World Cup 2024 win in Barbados in June. He became the third Indian skipper after Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni to win the World Cup. It is worth mentioning that it was his second T20 World Cup win.

He was rested from the Duleep Trophy to avoid injuries before the busy Test schedule. He will next be seen in action during the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which will begin on September 19 in Chennai. India will then host the three-match Test series against New Zealand.

Sharma will be aiming to secure victory in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia. India won back-to-back Test series in Australia on their last two tours. He has the chance to become the third captain after Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane to help the team win a Test series in Australia.
