The former Pakistan pacer asks the cricket board to find some players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who can perform in a steady way. Amir mentioned Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli because of their habit of scoring runs in a consistent manner. Though he opined against Abhishek Sharma, who is known for explosive knocks in the T20 format.

“We do not need a player like Abhishek Sharma, who is not consistent. In 10-12 matches, he can score well in 2-3 matches, so we don’t need players like Abhishek Sharma. We saw his struggles in the T20 World Cup 2026. We need players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who are capable of batting with consistency,” Mohammad Amir said.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan cricket team is currently in Bangladesh for a 3-match ODI series. After the first two matches, the scoreline stands at 1-1. The third match will decide who will claim the bilateral series.

PCB named multiple uncapped players to face Bangladesh

For the ODI series against Bangladesh, the cricket governing body of Pakistan named multiple uncapped players in the squad, dropping star players like Babar Azam. As soon as the Salman Ali Agha-led team was knocked out of the 2026 T20 World Cup, it was reported that the PCB was considering an overhaul to shape the team for the future.

For the March 2026 Bangladesh ODI tour, Pakistan named six uncapped players in their 15-member squad, signaling a major rebuild after a poor T20 World Cup. Abdul Samad, Maaz Sadaqat, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, Saad Masood, Sahibzada Farhan, and Shamyl Hussain have all earned maiden call-ups to the ODI setup.
