Rohit Sharma retired from Test cricket on May 7 and has now opened the gates for former players slamming him. The former South African player Daryll Cullinan again slammed Rohit by calling his retirement as long overdue.

Before the IPL 2024, in a podcast with Michael Clarke, he talked about his expectations from him on the next England tour but before the same tour, he announced his retirement from the red-ball format.

Daryll Cullinan slams Rohit Sharma

Rohit has scored 4301 Test runs in his career but despite that Cullinan stated that Rohit’s retirement from the long format was overdue and it will not haunt the Indian team in the next tour of England.

"Rohit's retirement was probably long overdue in terms of test cricket away from India. Let's be honest about it. He hasn't really been the player that he throughout his career has been at home and we saw reluctance from him in recent Australian series to really take it on and lead from the front. So I don't see that as being a loss for India at all," Cullinan responded.

Daryll Cullinan on India’s chances in England tour

Daryll Cullinan reckons India has a great chance of beating England at their home. Indian team has a great pace attack in the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep.

The men in Blue have not won a single Test series against England in England since 2007. In the last Test series, they were ahead in the five-match series by 2-1 but lost the final Test and drew the series by 2-2.

"India definitely have a realistic chance if all their bowlers are fit and they're able to see through the series. They're always going to be in with a chance. Ability to bowl teams out and there's depth in India's batting," Cullinan added.

It will be a great opportunity for the young Indian team to create the same history as they did in Australia. The conditions will challenge the Indian batters more compared to bowlers.

Daryll Cullinan, regular troller for Rohit Sharma

The former South African player regularly trolls Rohit Sharma on various things like fitness, performance, and many more. This time he called Rohit that his Test retirement was long overdue.

Earlier, he mocked Rohit by calling him a ‘flat-track bully’ and overweight. Rohit didn’t perform in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2024-25 and scored just 31 runs in the series.

After that, he became the victim of Cullinan’s trolls. Cullinan referred to Rohit as of out-of-shape player and not in good physical condition for a five-day test match.
