Everything now depends on the selectors and the direction they want to follow. It was also revealed that Ajit Agarkar had a conversation with Rohit in the team hotel during India's ODI series in England. However, that meeting was about not playing Rohit at Lord’s.

BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla breaks silence on Rohit Sharma's retirement rumours
Amid growing talks about Rohit Sharma's international future, BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla has dismissed all rumors about the veteran opener retiring anytime soon. He said that there is no reason to discuss the former Indian captain’s retirement at this stage.
Shukla told reporters, as quoted by Times of India, “Rohit is a part of our team and is continuing to play. The things being circulated in the media and on social media have no meaning. As of now, there is no question of his retirement.”
Currently, the Men in Blue are facing Zimbabwe in the three-match T20I series, and after this tour, the red-ball squad will travel to Sri Lanka for the two-match Test series in August.
