BCCI yet to decide on India's ODI captaincy
Well, just days after Rohit shocked everyone by retiring from Test cricket before the crucial England tour, speculation has been rife over his ODI captaincy. Some media reports claimed that the Hitman might be removed from the role after the England series.
The selectors are reportedly not convinced with the thought of whether Rohit will continue as skipper till the 2027 ODI World Cup or what if his form dips again, as he is already 37, and then his injury concerns played their part in the thought process behind the scenes.
With the likes of Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer waiting in the wings, how long the BCCI will hold Rohit can’t be predicted. However, Rohit has not openly said that he will play in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027, but there are claims that he is aiming to give his last shot to end his career on a high.
But his recent troubles in the IPL 2025 and form left the BCCI and national selectors worried. Well, it remains to be seen whether the Indian opener will continue as ODI captain till the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027, as they are yet to discuss his future in the 50-over format of the game.

Sanjay Manjrekar slams ‘Ro-Ko’ term, says no Comparison in Tests between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma
Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar said that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are not equal in Test cricket and they should not be clubbed together as he slammed the famous term “Ro-Ko” used by the fans and cricket pandits for the Indian batting icons.
Sanjay Manjrekar said in a video posted on his Instagram handle, “It stirred up the bee in my bonnet, which has been there for a while. It's not so much about the statement, but the fact that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli tend to get clubbed together.”
He further said, “We even have a term for them, RoKo. I can understand it in white-ball cricket… But when it comes to red-ball cricket, there’s absolutely no comparison between the two.”
Explaining the reason behind his reluctance to use the term, Manjrekar noted, “Virat Kohli has got 12 hundreds. Rohit Sharma in SENA countries—just the one, against England at The Oval in 2021. He's played over 100 innings and averages 40. And I dare say, had he gone to England, that average would have dropped into the 30s. So, when it comes to red-ball cricket… I say, “RoKo, stop that.”
