We Were A Stronger Side – Ambati Rayudu
Speaking on The Ranveer Show in a YouTube podcast, Ambati Rayudu stated that both the 2003 and 2023 losses to Australia would hurt for a long time. Rayudu noted that the current Indian team had a much stronger side than in the 2003 final.
“Everybody’s story is going to be different, but I’m happy that I never asked anybody for any favor,” Rayudu said when asked if he should have been given more chances by the team management at the international level.
“I think Australia was much stronger than us, but this time, definitely, we were a stronger side,” he said.
2011 Was A Better Indian Side In General – Ambati Rayudu
The former Indian batter expressed that while the 2011 World Cup-winning team led by MS Dhoni was a better Indian side overall due to factors like skill and experience, the 2023 side played the best in all the World Cups he has witnessed.
“I feel this is the best Indian side I’ve seen play in a World Cup. 2011 was a better Indian side in general because of the skill factor and the experience and everything, but this side, I think, played the best in all the World Cups that I have seen,” Rayudu further added.
The 37-year-old announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in India after contributing significantly to the Chennai Super Kings’ victory in the IPL 2023 final. The veteran batter’s pivotal innings played a crucial role in CSK securing their fifth IPL title.
