England cricketer Will Jacks played a massive role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) staging a comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The batter didn’t get opportunities in the first few games but once he was included in the team, he changed things for the team.
Will Jacks, batting at No.3, played a huge role in RCB winning their last 6 games on the trot. Although he didn’t play the last game due to international commitments, he made sure that he helped his team win the 5 games on the bounce and got the momentum on their side.
Will Jacks’ best came in the game against Gujarat Titans in the league. The batter slammed a magnificent century and put on a great show. He went to his ton in a flash and along with Virat Kohli, who also slammed a half-century, helped his team win the game.
Will Jacks and Virat Kohli shared an unbeaten 166-run stand for the second wicket as RCB won the match by 9 wickets. Jacks did the carnage on the Gujarat bowlers, especially Rashid Khan as he raced away to his century in flash.
Will Jacks talked about the surreal experience of meeting Virat Kohli. He feels that even big footballers don’t get the same support as the Indian batter. Talking to ESPNCricinfo, he explained:
"When he (Kohli) first walked in and I first met him, that was surreal. Seeing his aura, how people look at him, the following… even if you see a footballer in public at home, it's not like that. It's eye-opening. Everywhere we go - all the airports, every street - the support is incredible.”

Will Jacks further talked about his century against Gujarat Titans, revealing that after he got his half-century, Virat Kohli told him to keep going. He talked about his thought process before going hard and added:
"Once I got my fifty, Virat was like, 'I don't want to face any balls - keep going.' When Mohit Sharma came on [in the 15th over], that was my match-up. I was going to take him down there because I'd faced him for three or four balls before and I'd got a good eye of him. I knew that was my time, and after that, there was no reason to stop.”
Will Jacks further talked about the fan base of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, saying that it was crazy and it took him by surprise. He added:
"Everyone told me their (RCB) fans were the best but now I've seen how crazy it is… I kind of expected it, but it obviously still takes you by surprise.”
In 8 games, Will Jacks racked up 230 runs at an average of 32.85 and a strike-rate of 175.57.
