Shubman Gill finally silenced his critics with a brilliant hundred during the first Test between India and Bangladesh at Chennai. Gill struck his fifth Test hundred in the second innings of the Test.

Gill was under huge pressure after he failed in the first innings when he was out for a duck. Many experts raised questions over his below-par average in Test cricket and questioned his place ahead of Ruturaj Gaikwad.

He averages just 35 in Test cricket currently as compared to his average of 58 in ODIs. The youngster was even called a flat-track bully on social media. But this time, the social media was all praises for his brilliant century under pressure.

Brilliant innings from Shubman Gill

It was an innings of great authority from Shubman who looked confident against all the bowlers. He did not hesitate in running down the track and smashing the bowlers over the boundary. His use of the feet was impeccable, especially against the offspinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

His confidence was a treat to watch and he looked at ease against both the fast bowlers and the spinners. Surely, he has cemented his No. 3 spot with this knock and will aim for more hundreds in the upcoming Test season.
