Former Indian pacer S Sreesanth feels that team management should handle ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s work load well in the upcoming ODI series against Australia. S Sreesanth advocated for resting Jasprit Bumrah if he’s dealing with any injury concerns.
Jasprit Bumrah made his comeback in the 50-over format during the Asia Cup 2023. The right-arm pacer took four wickets in two matches at an average of 17.75 and an economy rate of 4.18. He was named in India’s squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia.
Fast Bowlers Should Focus On Bowling On Partnerships – S Sreesanth
In an interview with Sportskeeda, S Sreesanth emphasized that Jasprit Bumrah should have the autonomy to make decisions based on his body’s condition and prioritize accordingly. Sreesanth highlighted the significance of using fast bowlers strategically in partnerships.
“It will be interesting to see the kind of pitches they offer to Australia in the series. But I want Bumrah to be rested if there is a niggle. Let him decide how his body is feeling,” said Sreesanth.
“He deserves to make that decision and choose his priority. The use of fast bowlers would be crucial. They should rotate them and the fast bowlers should focus on bowling in partnerships,” he added.
I would ask the likes of KL Rahul to play all the games and maintain consistency – S Sreesanth
Sreesanth emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency in team selection, suggesting that players like KL Rahul should play all three matches. He said:
“I would ask the likes of KL Rahul to play all the games and maintain the consistency that we spoke about. Show Australia that it will be worse for them in the World Cup. Just demoralize them and make sure we don’t lose.”
KL Rahul has been named captain of the team for the first two matches in the absence of senior players such as Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma. They will return to the squad for the third and final match of the series.
