Fans on X erupted in joy after South African batter Aiden Markram smashed a sensational ton against Sri Lanka. The fourth game of the ICC World Cup 2023 is currently taking place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. 

South Africa have been on a rampage in the ongoing game against Sri Lanka. After the carnage by Quinton de Kock (100) and Rassie van der Dussen (108), the limelight was stolen by Aiden Markram, who brought out his beast mode and played exceptionally well. 

Aiden Markram came out all guns blazing as he made a mockery of the Sri Lanka bowlers and made them clueless. The bowlers had no answers to his carnage as he looked a class apart today and played some breathtaking strokes. He timed every ball to perfection and was in full control of his innings. 

Aiden Markram played a fiery innings as he batted with a strike rate of around 200, which depicts what kind of batting it was on the fray. Till the time he was on the crease, the ball flew all over the park and it was a festival of fours and sixes. He smashed the fastest century in the World Cup as he achieved the feat in 49 balls.

Aiden Markram scored 106 runs off 54 balls and smashed 14 fours and 3 sixes in his innings. His rollicking innings made sure that South Africa went past 400 runs in their innings. The right-hander arguably played one of the best innings of the tournament so far. Thanks to tons by him, De Kock, and Rassie van der Dussen, the Proteas posted a gigantic total of 428 runs on the board, which is the highest in the history of the World Cup.
