SA vs SL: 'South Africa Are Title Contenders' - Twitter Reacts As The Proteas Crush Sri Lanka In World Cup 2023

Fans on Twitter reacted after South Africa thumped Sri Lanka by a massive margin of 102 runs. The fourth match of the ICC World Cup 2023 took place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and it saw a festival of runs at the national capital of India. 

South Africa were asked to bat first and they didn’t have a great start as they lost Temba Bavuma early. But after that, it was a carnage by the Proteas batter. Quinton de Kock (100) and Rassie van der (108) unleashed themselves and stitched over 200 runs partnership. 

The duo took the attack to the Sri Lanka bowlers and changed the complexion of the game. If their carnage was not enough, Aiden Markram activated his beast mode as he smashed the fastest century in the history of the ICC World Cup 2023. He registered a ton in 49 balls and ended with a knock of 106 runs. 

David Miller (39*) in the end along with Heinrich Klassen (32) and Marco Jansen (12*) struck some lusty blows as South Africa posted a total of 428 runs on the board. For Sri Lanka, Dilshan Madushanka picked two wickets. 

Sri Lanka then had a poor start with the bat as South African pacer Marco Jansen rattled the top order and picked two wickets early. But after that, Kusal Mendis (76) and Sadeera Samarawickrama (23) steadied the ship and played vital hands. 

But they couldn’t carry on as South Africa chipped in with wickets at regular intervals. After that, Charith Asalanka (79) and Dasun Shanaka (68) chipped in with vital half-centuries but Proteas held their nerves well and picked wickets again to put Sri Lanka on the back foot. 

Kasun Rajitha (33) tried his best in the end but he too perished as South Africa rattled Sri Lanka for 326 runs to win the game by the margin of 102 runs and kick start the ICC World Cup 2023 on high.
