West Indies is the only team that has won the T20 World Cup twice and with their side consisting of experienced T20 globetrotters, they will once again be one of the teams’ to beat in the upcoming event.

India, on the other hand, are the No.2 ranked side in the world, which has been extremely consistent in such a fickle format for a long period of time.

Saba Karim believes that India has a good amalgamation of youth and experience to win their second T20 World Cup title.

‘’My No.1 team at this moment is West Indies and India is No.2. The West Indies team has plenty of match-winners, power-hitters who can hit sixes. India has both youth and experience, so they have a good balance.” Saba Karim said during a discussion on India News.

Karim also pointed out the World’s No.1 ranked England as one of the major title contenders.

‘’But one team about whom we need to necessarily talk about is England. They have brought a different dimension to white-ball cricket and their team is also looking balanced to me. So, they will definitely be strong contenders in the T20 World Cup.” he said.

Meanwhile, another former Indian cricketer, Reetinder Singh Sodhi believes that one can’t rule the Kane Williamson-led New Zealand from contention as they have a lot of depth in their T20 squad plus they will be riding high on confidence after beating India in the inaugural World Test Championship final.

”I feel you cannot take New Zealand lightly. They have fantastic players, utility players and if we talk about all-rounders, New Zealand is filled with all-rounders. The way they won the WTC final, they showed that this team has the might.” said Sodhi.

He signed off by stating that we may get an encore of the WTC final in the summit clash of the upcoming T20 World Cup.

”If we talk about T20 cricket, their planning is very good. They play the middle overs (8-14) very well. They have the bowling as well. So I feel it could be an India-New Zealand final.”

India and England are placed in Group 2 alongside South Africa and Afghanistan and two qualifying teams [yet to be decided] while New Zealand and the West Indies are in Group 1 which also includes the likes of Australia and Pakistan.
