Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has shared his prediction for the upcoming five-match Test series between India and England. Tendulkar expressed confidence in the Shubman Gill-led side’s ability to deliver a strong performance and backed India to win the Test series in England by a 3-1 margin.

India will play the series without veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The team will begin this transitional phase with Shubman Gill taking over as Test captain. Team India will commence the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle, with the first Test set to take place at Leeds on Friday.

I Have Settled for 3-1 to India - Sachin Tendulkar’s Bold Prediction for England Series

Sachin Tendulkar recalled India’s 1-0 Test series win in England back in 2007 under Rahul Dravids captaincy. Tendulkar hoped that the current Indian team could secure a series victory, adding that fans would continue to celebrate such a memorable triumph for years to come.

"I have settled for 3-1 to India. There were multiple good performances by individuals… Zaheer (Khan) played a role. I think everyone coming together and then chipping in at the right time makes a big difference. I still remember we were in the dressing room, celebrating at The Oval, the last Test," Sachin told ESPN Cricinfo.

"These kinds of moments stay with you forever. We're still talking about it 18 years down the line. I hope we're able to do something this series too, so 20 years down the line we can still talk about it."

A Lot Will Depend on Jasprit Bumrah and… - Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar said that Jasprit Bumrah will be the key figure in India’s bowling attack. He stated that Bumrah will lead the pace unit and play a crucial role in India’s chances on the tour.

"I think the bowling attack, a lot will depend on Bumrah and how the other guys support him. Bumrah, without any doubt, is going to be our strike bowler. Along with that, how the rest of the guys that I have experienced, Prasidh has been in good form."

"Arshdeep Singh, Shardul Thakur, and Nitesh Reddy would be the supporting bowlers. Harshit Rana, I might be missing out a few names, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav. I feel the attack is a balanced attack. I am hopeful that we will do something nice."

Jasprit Bumrah’s Workload to Be Monitored Throughout England Series

Jasprit Bumrah's workload will be managed during the series. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed that Bumrah has been advised against playing back-to-back Tests, following medical advice. The right-arm fast bowler sustained a back injury during the Sydney Test against Australia in January.

Bumrah missed India’s Champions Trophy campaign but returned to competitive cricket during the IPL for Mumbai Indians (MI).

Ahead of the England tour, head coach Gautam Gambhir stated that the team has yet to finalize which Tests Bumrah will play during the series. Bumrah is likely to feature in three matches during the tour.
