Gujarat Titans youngster Sai Sudharsan has been an asset to the side, ever since he was drafted into this side. He has now broken the former record held by the great Chris Gayle in the IPL.

The Gujarat Titans have found a truly magnificent player in the form of Tamil Nadu batter Sai Sudharsan, who has been a consistent batter performing for them across all games for the Titans. He has formed one of the most highly successful opening pairs with skipper Shubman Gill.

Sudharsan was the highest run-getter in the previous edition of the IPL, where he amassed 750+ runs and managed to take his home team off to the playoffs and also played his part in the knockout game against Mumbai.

Sai Sudharsan breaks Chris Gayle's massive record in the IPL

The Gujarat Titans reached the Chinnaswamy after a humiliating defeat at their home ground, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The left-handed opener Sai Sudharsan was dismissed for a golden duck in the last game, but he had arrived at the Chinnaswamy to change his fortunes.

One of the finest batting tracks in India, the Chinnaswamy is often known to favor the batters, but no one expected that Sudharsan would break the record of one of the most explosive players who played most of his games for this franchise at this venue.

Sudharsan reached 2000 runs in IPL cricket and became the batter to break former RCBian Chris Gayle's legendary record. The West Indian had reached the landmark in 48 innings in his career, while Sudharsan has reached the feat in his 47th IPL inning.

Sai Sudharsan breaks former record held by Ruturaj Gaikwad

The Gujarat Titans batter has been in good touch in the IPL over the past few seasons and has hurried to the record milestone. He has now also broken the former record held by CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad for the fastest Indian to 2000 IPL runs.

The CSK batter had taken 57 innings for the milestone number, which was formerly the fastest for any Indian player, however, now Sudharsan has topped the list with 10 innings less.

However, in terms of the number of balls played in the IPL to reach those 2000 runs in the IPL, Abhishek Sharma still tops the list, having reached the milestone within 1193 balls.

Sudharsan leads Gujarat Titans bounce back with a Third IPL century

After a terrible batting collapse against the Mumbai Indians at their home ground, the Gujarat Titans needed something special from their batters to bounce back into the competition. The confidence would have also been low for the batters who were bowled out for just 100 runs at their home ground.

However, Sai Sudharsan did not let them feel the lack of confidence as he took control of the innings in a massive century partnership alongside the skipper. He also reached his third century in the IPL while striking at over 170.
