Amid England's Test series against Pakistan at home, two crucial injury updates have arrived. Sam Curran and Will Jacks, two cricketers aiming to return to the Test side, are in doubt due to injuries.

Curran and Jacks were both expected to make their comebacks soon for the national side, but at this point, given their present fitness status, both of them will have to remain out of action for a significant number of days.

Sam Curran ruled out of Test comeback after undergoing groin surgery

On Day 2 of the England vs Pakistan Test match in Leeds, The Telegraph journalist Will Macpherson, through an 'X' post, provided the latest updates on Sam Curran and Will Jacks.

The journalist informed that while Curran, a pace-bowling all-rounder, is set to undergo surgery, Jacks, a spin-bowling all-rounder, recently had an appendix operation. Therefore, both of them are unlikely to return to action very soon for the England cricket team.

"Sam Curran is out for the season with a groin injury, putting any hopes of a Test comeback on hold. He will have surgery tomorrow. Will Jacks is also missing for Surrey, having had his appendix removed; England hope he will be back for the white-ball series v Sri Lanka next month," the 'X' post reads.

Sam Curran missed multiple tournaments because of a groin injury

Because of the serious groin injury, Curran has been out of action for weeks now. He was expected to receive a Test team call-up, but that did not happen as he needs a surgey for complete cure from the injury.

Ahead of the IPL 2026 season, medical scans revealed that Curran's injury was serious and he required surgery to recover. Along with the IPL 2026 season, where he was about to play for the Rajasthan Royals, he was not selected for the ongoing Test series against Pakistan. He missed England's home Test series against New Zealand as well. As of now, his return date is yet to be confirmed.

Curran played his last match for the England National Cricket Team. Curran last featured in The Hundred for MI London on August 12. Since then, he has remained out of action. His last match for England was on July 19 in an ODI match at Lord's.

Will Jacks' return is also in doubt

Like Sam Curran, Will Jacks also last featured during The Hundred for MI London on August 12 in Birmingham. Since that match, the all-rounder has not featured in any competitive matches. The absence of Jacks is a major concern for the Surrey County Cricket Club as he is among the main stars of the team.

Surrey is currently playing against the Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club in a County Championship match, without Will Jacks in their playing combination.
