Former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar took a sharp jab at Virat Kohli, using the explosive knocks of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh during Punjab Kings’ IPL 2025 game against the Kolkata Knight Riders as his weapon.
In a sharp post that lit up social media, Sanjay Manjrekar highlighted that the old forces like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are rapidly being outshone by the fearless new generation in T20 cricket after Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh delivered breathtaking performances against KKR.

Manjrekar has boldly claimed that the dazzling performances of the new-age stars are a clear reminder that T20 cricket now belongs to the fearless young brigade, not the legends of the past, targeting Kohli and other senior stars on social media.
In Match No. 44 of the ongoing IPL 2025, Punjab Kings opener Arya and Prabhsimran played spectacular innings against the KKR at the Eden Gardens on Saturday (April 26). However, the match ended with no result, but the PBKS openers left one and all in awe of them.

While Arya smashed 69 off 35 balls laced with eight boundaries and four sixes, Prabhsimran hammered 83 off 49, studded with six boundaries and as many as six sixes. With the new generation making a loud and clear statement, Manjrekar made sure to remind them that the T20 format now belongs to the new-age hitters.
T20 game is for the new-age batters: Sanjay Manjrekar
Taking to his social media handle, Sanjay Manjrekar posted on X: “Priyansh Arya 69(35) Prabhsimran 83(49), last night v KKR. Yet another instance of new-age batters outperforming earlier-generation big-name batters. T20s is their game!”

Earlier, Manjrekar overlooked Virat Kohli in his top 10 batters who have so far dominated the ongoing IPL 2025 with big runs and blazing strike rates. Surprisingly, despite being among the top run-scorers and a strong contender for the Orange Cap, Kohli didn’t make the cut as his strike rate was below 150.
He had picked Nicholas Pooran, Arya, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Jos Buttler, Mitchell Marsh, Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, KL Rahul, and Shubman Gill—all these batters scoring runs at the strike rate of over 150 in the ongoing IPL 2025.

RCB coach reveals how Virat Kohli’s natural game is helping him to shine in the IPL 2025
Meanwhile, RCB assistant coach Malolan Rangarajan has revealed that Virat Kohli isn't trying anything new this season — he’s simply sticking to his natural game and making runs.
The right-handed batter has been in top form, leading RCB’s batting chart and standing second in the race for the Orange Cap with 392 runs in 9 matches at an average of 65.33 and a strike rate of 144.12.
Malolan Rangarajan said at the press conference ahead of the DC vs RCB match on April 27, “It wasn't only Virat Kohli last season who was not batting at the desired strike rate. It was the whole team. So, I think the whole team got together."
"They were very honest about it, and I'm sure you guys have heard this like a broken record where we said we were very honest together inside a room, and that's precisely what happened. That's part one.”
Rangarajan added, “Part two is about Virat Kohli as an individual who does not need to go and practice extra. He's batted for 20-25 years. He's a genius. He just has to decide what he wants to do and how he wants to take down a particular bowler."
"And it's very evident that someone like Virat, even after having played for so long, is constantly looking at. What more he can do, which to me is unbelievable, is the attitude with which he comes into every training session and every match. So, with that, I don't think he did anything specifically physical.”
