Former Indian batsman-turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has come down hard opener Rohit Sharma after he once again threw his wicket away in an attempt to take the attack to the bowlers

The stylish Indian opener was batting really well; has successfully negotiated the early threat posed by the Australian seamers; has played some sumptuous strokes but as has been the case with him in his Test career, his white-ball instincts and lack of game awareness did the trick for him as he once again squandered a chance to post a really big score.

This has been the theme of Rohit Sharma’s batting throughout his stop-start Test career, and especially in the ongoing series, where he has looked in complete control, has got to starts- 26, 52 & 44 (today)- before a sudden rush in blood has led to his downfall.

It was the same case on the second afternoon of the ongoing Gabba Test in Brisbane, where Rohit Sharma, after having looked so good for a better part of 74 balls, once again had a ‘brain-freeze’ moment as he came down to the track in order to hit Nathan Lyon, but could not get to the pitch of the ball and ended up giving an easy catch to Mitchell Starc, who ran from long-on to deep midwicket to complete the same.

Manjrekar, who is a part of the commentary team for Sony Sports, took to his official Twitter account, where he did mince his words, terming Sharma’s shot as ‘inexcusable’

“Considering the experience missing in the team, that shot from an experienced Rohit Sharma was inexcusable.
