India's upcoming Test tour of Australia is already sending waves of excitement through the cricketing world, and Sanjay Manjrekar made a stunning statement about Team India’s batting unit for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Currently, the Indian cricket team is gearing up for what could be one of their toughest Test series yet, facing a formidable challenge Down Under in Australia.
With the prospect of fast, bouncy pitches and aggressive opposition, the focus naturally turns to India’s bowling attack.
Indian bowlers set to dominate as Sanjay Manjrekar highlights the key to Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 success
As all eyes are on India’s bowling attack, Manjrekar said that they will be heading to Australia with the strongest unit to ever take on the Kangaroos in the upcoming five-match Test series.
The former Indian cricketer said that Jasprit Bumrah is at the peak of his career and is all set to lead this fearsome bowling attack of India on the much-awaited tour of Australia.
The sheer dominance Bumrah has shown across the formats leaves fans wondering what new heights he can reach in Australia, which is known for testing bowlers to their limits.
The cricket pandit said that the possible return of Mohammed Shami will add to Team India’s pace powerhouse, and then the fiery Mohammad Siraj and a promising seamer Akash Deep make their pace attack perfectly equipped to deliver on the Australian conditions.
Team bowling no issue for India: Manjrekar
Sanjay Manjrekar was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo: “In fact, I tell you what, India has been to Australia before, but they might have the best bowling attack going this time because Bumrah is at the peak of his career. I mean, you just wonder what other high is left for him or what heights in team bowling that's left.
So, Bumrah will be there. If Shami comes back, let's not forget Mohammed Shami. Then you have Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Bumrah, and Akash Deep as your options. Plus, you've got a left-arm seamer there that everyone's excited about. So, team bowling is absolutely no issue for India. I think the Australians will find them a handful.”
Sanjay Manjrekar says India's batting will define victory on Australia tour
Sanjay Manjrekar feels this bowling attack will be a nightmare for the Australian batters, capable of wreaking havoc on even the best in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. However, India’s success in Australia may ultimately depend on their batting lineup, according to Manjrekar.
The pressure will be immense on India’s senior players, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul, who must shoulder the responsibility of scoring the bulk of the runs. But the high-profile Test series could also be a litmus test for the young guns like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill.
Sanjay Manjrekar signed off by saying, “India just has to bat well. Their seniors have to carry the burden. And I think in many ways, this is a test for Yashasi Jaiswal and Shubhman Gill, and if they come through, India might have another series win in Australia. We'll have to wait and see.”
