Lucknow Super Giants team owner Sanjiv Goenka posted a congratulatory message for the former captain of his team KL Rahul. Goenka took to social media to congratulate Rahul and his wife Athiya Shetty on the birth of their daughter.

However, the message didn't go down with the fans. The users on social media brutally trolled Sanjiv Goenka and reminded him of his behavior with KL Rahul last season. The fans even asked the LSG owner not to disrespect a humble person ever again.

Sanjiv Goenka's congratulatory message for KL Rahul

Sanjiv Goenka's posted the message after the match between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants at Visakhapatnam. The match went down to the thriller but the Capitals prevailed in the end.

"Delighted to hear the wonderful news! Congratulations to @klrahul and @theathiyashetty on the birth of your daughter. Wishing your family love, happiness, and countless cherished moments," Goenka posted on X (formerly Twitter).

What happened between Sanjiv Goenka and KL Rahul in IPL 2024?

Sanjiv Goenka was involved in an animated conversation with KL Rahul, who was LSG's captain last season after the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Goenka seemed angry and let out his frustration as Rahul listened to him patiently. The moment was recorded on the camera and it quickly went viral on social media. Goenka was slammed for treating such a high-profile Indian player this way.

While LSG made it clear later that everything was fine, the things kept going worse for them. Goenka even invited Rahul for a dinner in an attempt to clear all the differences. But Rahul had already decided to leave LSG and got himself into the IPL 2025 auction.

He was signed by Delhi Capitals, who were also LSG's opponents in their first game. Rahul was slated to play this game but could not make himself available due to the birth of his daughter.

Delhi Capitals win a thriller

Delhi Capitals won their first match of IPL 2025 by defeating Lucknow Super Giants in a thriller at Vizag. It was a scintillating game that ebbed and flowed but the Capitals prevailed in the end.

LSG had the upper hand in most parts of the game but DC didn't lose hope at any point. Delhi had lost four wickets in the powerplay and it seemed like the match is over for them. They were then reduced to 113-6 as Tristan Stubbs was out to a beauty.

But Ashutosh Sharma had other ideas as he took his team home with some brilliant strokeplay. He slammed 66 off just 31 balls and also hit the winning six. Vipraj Nigam also played a good hand with 39 off 15 balls
