The pressure cooker has finally exploded at Ekana Stadium on Monday (May 19) night, as the Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka left his seat after Rishabh Pant’s dismissal vs SRH.
In a do-or-die clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants decided to send Rishabh Pant up the order, but it backfired badly. The LSG skipper, who was already under immense pressure due to a series of poor performances this season, was dismissed for just 7 runs against the SRH.

In the 12th over of Lucknow Super Giants’ innings, Rishabh Pant tried to drive a full delivery from Eshan Malinga but ended up chipping it straight back, where the bowler dived to his left and grabbed a sharp return catch to add misery to the struggling wicketkeeper-batter.
Moments after Pant walked off, the cameras caught Sanjiv Goenka storming out of the team’s balcony in sheer frustration. The LSG owner’s furious exit shows how he was disappointed with Pant. The clip of Goenka’s reaction to Pant’s another cheap dismissal spread like wildfire on social media.
LSG had signed Rishabh Pant for INR 27 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction last year, but he badly failed to live up to the expectations. The left-handed batter has so far managed only 135 runs in 12 games at a disappointing average of 12.27, leaving Goenka frustrated.

LSG crash out after crushing defeat to SRH
Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants are officially out of the IPL 2025 playoff race after a six-wicket defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday. After the LSG vs SRH match, only Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians are in the hunt for the final playoff spot.
Notably, Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings and Rajat Patidar’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru have already qualified for the IPL 2025 playoffs, and they still have two games remaining, and they are now battling to secure the top-2 finish in the tournament.
Well, LSG had a great start, thanks to a solid opening stand from Mitchell Marsh (65) and Aiden Markram (61). However, SRH bowlers bounced back, but Nicholas Pooran’s quick cameo of 45 runs took the Lucknow team to 205/7 on the board against Hyderabad.
In reply, SRH, which was already out of the IPL 2025 playoffs, chased down the target with 10 balls to spare and dashed LSG playoff hopes in Lucknow. Abhishek Sharma smashed 59 off 20 balls, while Ishan Kishan, Heinrich Klaasen, and Kamindu Mendis added crucial runs.
Digvesh Rathi took two key wickets, but by then, the damage was done as SRH won the game by six wickets against LSG.
