Speaking on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast Unplugged, Sanjiv Goenka believes that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has the kind of talent that comes once in a generation. Calling Vaibhav worthy of all the praise, Goenka said, "He is a generational talent."
When the Lucknow Super Giants owner was asked if he regretted not choosing Vaibhav at the IPL 2025 auction, especially after seeing the incredible attention and praise the youngster has received. He openly admitted the regret and said that every franchise would want to have a player like Vaibhav because of his rare talent and potential.
Goenka further shared, “Every team owner will regret that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is not in their team. And now Lakshmi Mittal owns Rajasthan Royals. They will never let Vaibhav go anywhere else in life at any cost.”
The LSG owner recalled that one of Vaibhav's first public images was in a Rising Pune Supergiant jersey during one of their games. Goenka said, “Vaibhav's first public image is wearing a Rising Pune Supergiant jersey in our game. And that boy has created a sensation in the world today.”

When Shubhankar Mishra asked Goenka what difference he saw between Vaibhav and the other cricketers he had watched over the years, the LSG owner highlighted one big quality, and that’s his confidence.
He noted that the young Indian opener has talent and a wide range of shots, but his confidence is what really stands out. However, the industrialist warned the left-hander of overconfidence that can lead to a player's downfall.
Goenka said, “The confidence. Talent is there, and shots are there. Supreme confidence. Not overconfidence. That's the difference. This is a very difficult journey. If you become overconfident, then that is the beginning of your downfall. Vaibhav has confidence. I can do this.”

The LSG owner further praised Vaibhav for improving with every game. He believes the youngster already plays proper cricketing shots and is now learning how to control his attacking instincts. Amid this, an ex-India cricketer wants India to drop Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for the Afghanistan series.
Goenka signed off by saying, “As much as I have seen, I have not seen it so closely. But whatever I have seen, he is improving with every game. True. His shots are perfect cricket shots. He is learning to temper himself a bit. And that will make him much more effective.”
