But the real shocker is that the same viral social media post claims that the Chennai Super Kings have already approached Samson for a blockbuster signing ahead of the IPL 2026. The small action of Samson’s manager has created a big storm among fans, hinting that the rumors are true.

Now, many have been seeing the action as an unofficial confirmation of Samson’s departure from the Rajasthan Royals and the start of a new journey with the Chennai Super Kings.

Many have now been speculating that the trade between CSK and RR has almost been finalized for the IPL 2026.

Sanju Samson’s South connection lures CSK

Sanju, who hails from Kerala, has always enjoyed a strong fan base in southern India. With his calm personality, explosive batting, and local connection, many believe that the Indian wicketkeeper-batter perfectly fits to carry forward CSK’s legacy in the tournament.

The idea of a South Indian cricketer leading the mighty CSK has excited fans on social media. The yellow jersey has always had strong ties with Southern India, and bringing in a player like Sanju could be a great move for the team’s future, especially with MS Dhoni nearing retirement from the IPL.

It is being said that the Royals are planning a fresh approach after another underwhelming season. They have made it to the playoffs six times in IPL history. The RR won the only IPL title in 2008 and reached the final in 2022, but since then, they have struggled to deliver in the T20 league.

Sanju Samson’s rollercoaster IPL ride

Meanwhile, Sanju Samson began his IPL journey in 2012 with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He was part of the KKR squad when they won the title in the 2012 season, but he didn’t get a chance to play a single match for them. In 2013, the RR signed him, and he played for them until 2015.

In 2016 and 2017, Samson represented the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) before rejoining the Royals in the 2018 season. They retained him again in both the 2022 and 2025 mega auctions. Samson took charge as RR’s captain in 2021 and led the team to the final in IPL 2022, where they finished as runners-up, losing the title to the Gujarat Titans.

As a leader, Samson has a mixed record, winning 33 matches and losing 32 in the IPL. He is also the highest run-scorer for the Rajasthan Royals, having scored 4027 runs. He is the only RR player to cross the 4000-run mark. In IPL 2025, he could play only 9 matches due to injuries, but he still managed to score 285 runs at an average of over 35 and a strike rate above 140.
