Sanju Samson has officially joined the Delhi Capitals after his move from the Rajasthan Royals. All other franchises, like Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants, who were in the move, have been snubbed of any deal.
After Sanju Samson is all set to leave the Rajasthan team, both the Royals and the Capitals have been engaged in trade talks. The reports had claimed that Delhi were always eager to bring in their former cricketer Sanju Samson.
Several franchises looked eager to bring Sanju Samson inside their squad, as an Indian wicket-keeper batsman is quite rare yet very useful in the IPL. Moreover, Samson brings along years of experience, a great stance as an opener and lastly some leadership qualities.
Sanju Samson's deal finalised with Delhi Capitals
As per the latest developments in the IPL trade window, Samson is likely to return to his old den, the Delhi Capitals, as they have planned for a trade with the Rajasthan Royals. The final retention date is around the 15th of November, while the mini-auction will be held in mid-December between the 13th and 15th of December.
The report had earlier suggested that Delhi is eager to bring Sanju Samson in but is reluctant to part with any of their other cricketers. KL Rahul was floated in the trade talks between the two sides, but the Delhi Capitals, who bought him in the previous auction, were not willing to release him in the trade.

Three other franchises were in the race for the RR skipper
Over the past few months, Sanju Samson has been in heavy demand within the franchises of the IPL. The Chennai Super Kings looked like the first franchise interested in the wicket-keeper batsman, a role they have been in the hunt for for a long time.
However, the unfair demand of Ravindra Jadeja by the Royals unit could not propel CSK to continue with the trade deal. Kolkata Knight Riders, the three-time champions in the IPL, next came in the race, eager to acquire Samson as their next leader and opening batter.
However, they next moved to KL Rahul, as he seemed to be a more experienced batsman and shares a strong rapport with the newly appointed head coach, Abhishek Nayar. Though nothing has been officially confirmed as of yet.
Tristan Stubbs to be swapped in for the Royals
The Times of India report has further stated that Tristan Stubbs, the middle-order Protea batsman, has been picked for a swap deal in the Samson trade. The Delhi Capitals, though initially reluctant, have probably agreed to the deal, as a result of which Samson's move to Delhi has been confirmed.
Some reports have also claimed that the Royals demanded another uncapped player alongside Tristan Stubbs to finalize their deal for Samson; however, Delhi declined such a proposal.
The KL Rahul deal seemingly did not land with KKR as well, as the Capitals demanded two big players from the KKR setup, which didn't comply with the Capitals' management.
