Sarfaraz Khan Double Ton

Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan, on Wednesday (2nd October), achieved a massive feat in the history of Indian domestic cricket. The India National Cricket Team batter became the first-ever player from his state to hit a double century in the Irani Cup.

Sarfaraz Khan achieved the feat in the ongoing Irani Cup 2024 match between Mumbai and the Rest of India team. The game between the two teams is underway at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The game began on Tuesday (1st October).

Sarfaraz Khan, who is known as the domestic cricket giant, is making sure that he lives up to the expectations and plays another sensational inning for the team. The right-hander has put Mumbai in the dominating position in the ongoing game with his rollicking innings.

Sarfaraz, who came to bat at No.6, made an instant impact with the bat as he played some crisp shots right from the start and looked in good rhythm. He walked out to bat after Shreyas Iyer and, since then, has taken command of the game with his positive batting.

Sarfaraz Khan first racked up a magnificent ton in 149 balls and registered his 15th First-Class century. This was also his second hundred in the Irani Cup, with the first one coming in the 2022 edition when he scored 138 runs against Saurashtra.

However, time around, he made sure that he converted his century into a double ton. Sarfaraz Khan played a magnificent innings and brought up his milestone in 253 balls. His sensational effort with the bat saw Mumbai going past 500 runs on the board and putting the opposition under pressure.

Sarfaraz, who came to bat at 139-4, stitched vital partnerships, first with 131 runs with captain Ajinkya Rahane (97), and after that, he added 183 runs for the seventh wicket with Tanush Kotian (64). This was his fourth double-century in FC cricket, and he also has a first-class triple-hundred to his name.

Sarfaraz was recently part of the Indian squad for the two-match Test series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. However, due to the presence of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, he had to warm the bench. Ahead of the last day of the second Test, he was released from India's squad for the Irani Cup 2024.

Sarfaraz made his India debut in the five-match Test series against the England National Cricket Team earlier this year. The right-hander had a decent outing with the bat as he slammed three fifties in his first five innings, at a strike rate of 79.6.

With Sarfaraz getting runs under his belt, it will be a massive boost for the India National Cricket Team, especially with 8 Tests around the corner. They will be locking horns with New Zealand in the three-match Test series and five-match Test series against Australia later on.
