Team India middle-order batter Sarfaraz Khan has undergone a physical transformation ahead of the highly anticipated five-match Test series against England away from home. Sarfaraz has lost 10 kilograms through a strict diet plan ahead of the challenging overseas assignment against the Ben Stokes-led side.
Sarfaraz Khan, who made his Test debut in 2024 against England, is yet to play his first overseas match in the format. The 27-year-old batter has been named in the India A squad for the upcoming two-match series against the England Lions and is working hard to capitalize on this crucial opportunity.
Sarfaraz Khan Loses 10 Kg for England Test Series with a Strict Diet
According to a report by India Today, Sarfaraz Khan has adopted a disciplined routine to improve his fitness and technique ahead of the England tour. The Mumbai-born batter is following a strict diet focused on boiled vegetables and chicken.
"India Today has learnt that the Mumbai-born batter is on a strict diet plan of boiled veggies and chicken to get fitter. He’s also practicing twice a day, working on the outside off-stump discipline, which is key to success in the swinging conditions of England," the report reads.
Sarfaraz did not feature in any of the five Tests during the series against Australia. He last played for India in the third Test against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. During the opening match of the BGT 2024-25, Dhruv Jurel was preferred as a specialist batter ahead of Sarfaraz.
Sarfaraz Khan Made His Test Debut for India Last Year
The Mumbai cricketer made his much-anticipated Test debut in the third match of the series against England in Rajkot last year. He scored 62 off 66 balls, including nine fours and a six, in the first innings before being run out.
In the second innings, the right-hander continued his fine form with an unbeaten 68 from just 72 deliveries, hitting six boundaries and three sixes. His contributions helped India seal a dominant 434-run win.
Sarfaraz has played six matches, amassing 371 runs at an average of 37.10, including one century and three half-centuries. His best Test performance came in his fourth match against New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where he scored 150 runs off 195 balls.

The young cricketer boasts an outstanding first-class record, having scored 4,593 runs in 54 matches at an impressive average of 65.61. Sarfaraz has smashed 16 centuries and 14 half-centuries, with a highest score of an unbeaten 301 against Uttar Pradesh.
