The Scotland cricket team will be touring the United Arab Emirates for a tri-nation ODI series against hosts and Canada. The series will be played under the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 umbrella. After the tri-series, Scotland will also play a three-match T20I series against UAE. The Scottish Cricket Board has also announced two separate squads for both the series. Experienced batsman Richie Berrington will be leading the side in both formats.

Brother duo of Scott Currie and Brad Currie are the amongst the players to receive a maiden ODI call-up whereas young wicket-keeper batsman Charlie Tear has also received an international call-up for the first time. Fast bowler Bread Wheal is making a comeback into the ODI side after almost five years and he played his last ODI match in the year 2019.

Scotland showcased decent performances back in the past. Scotland failed to make it to the ODI World Cup 2023 and finished third in the Super Six stage of the tournament and were able to win 3 games and defeat former world champions West Indies.

Scotland also ended up being the winners of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Europe Qualifiers and ended up making a place in the main round of the tournament along with the Netherlands. Scotland were undefeated in the whole tournament and won six out of six games.

Head of Performance, Steve Snell while announcing Scotland’s squad for the tri-nation ODI series and the T20I series against UAE stated that it will be a great opportunity for the players to go out there and perform in a variety of formats. He stated that the selection of the players has been made to bring the best performance out of them in the first leg of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2.

He said, “This tour is a great opportunity for our players to go out and compete in a variety of formats, and the selection has been about trying to find a balance, firstly between producing our strongest possible performances in the first round of CWCL2 matches, and secondly on having an eye on future demands.”
