"Selectors aren't convinced about...": Shreyas Iyer's Test snub for England tour confirmed

Shreyas Iyer is not in contention for India’s squad for the England tour. Despite Iyer's brilliance in domestic cricket, he is likely to be snubbed from the Indian squad, as per TOI.
Iyer played his last match in a white jersey against England, and he was snubbed from the team in the middle of the Test series.

Shreyas Iyer is not in the scheme of things
Shreyas Iyer has been doing everything right for the last year. He proved himself in the middle order for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy. Iyer scored 480 runs in five matches at an average of 68.57.
Iyer also scored two tons in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, and now he is leading the Punjab Kings well, taking them into the playoffs after a decade.
Iyer's new stance, bold strokeplay, and carefree attitude to batting are all suited to the white-ball game now. The selectors aren't convinced about his red-ball skills," a source tracking developments said, as quoted by TOI.
Iyer was also removed from the annual contract of the BCCI, but after that, Iyer gave brilliant performances regularly to get back his annual contract.
Sarfaraz Khan, Sai Sudarshan and Karun Nair over Shreyas Iyer
There are lots of holes to fill up in the Indian middle order after Virat Kohli’s exit from Test cricket. Sarfaraz Khan, Sai Sudarshan, Karun Nair and Shreyas Iyer are the candidates for the middle order.
Neither of them played in the last overseas Test series in Australia. But Sai, Nair and Sarfaraz are named in the India A squad, while Iyer was also snubbed from the India A squad as well.
Nair and Sarfaraz had an incredible season in domestic cricket, and both players have been performing for the last few years, while Iyer’s performance in first-class cricket came in this season only.
India's probable squad for the England tour
According to the sources, India will go with six batter, two wicket-keepers, four all-rounders , five pacers and one spinner for the Engalnd tour.
KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal are likely to be selected as openers. Sai Sudarshan, Karun Nair, Sarfaraz Khan and Shubman Gill will join them as pure batters.
Shardul Thakur is likely to make his return to the squad with Kuldeep Yadav. Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravindra Jadeja will be the other all-rounder for the tour.
Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah will be the pace attack for the tour.
Bumrah is also not available for the whole tour as he reportedly told BCCI that he'll not play more than three Test matches to manage his workload.
