Fans on X were angry with the India National Cricket Team captain Suryakumar Yadav after he denied a single to the explosive wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma in the 19th over of the first innings in the third and final T20I.

The third T20I of the three-match series between the Suryakumar Yadav-led India National Cricket Team and Aiden Markram-led South Africa National Cricket Team is currently underway at the Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg on Thursday, December 14, 2023.

South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl first in the match. They made three changes to the playing XI as Marco Jansen, Gerald Coetzee, who were not available, and Tristan Stubbs were replaced by Nandre Burger, Keshav Maharaj, and Donovan Ferreira. On the other hand, India made no changes.

Batting first, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill provided India with a quickfire start and added 29 runs in 14 balls before Keshav Maharaj helped his side make a comeback with two wickets in two balls.

Then, Suryakumar Yadav came in to bat and he showcased a batting masterclass. He launched an attack and smashed the bowlers all over the park. At one point, the No.1 ranked T20I batsman was struggling to hit boundaries, but he took just one over to change that.

Suryakumar Yadav quickly accelerated and brought out his natural attacking brand of cricket. He added 112 runs in 70 balls with Yashasvi Jaiswal to push Proteas on the backfoot. He then added 47 runs in 27 balls with Rinku Singh.

After the dismissal of Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma came in to bat. However, his partnership didn’t last long with Suryakumar Yadav. The wicketkeeper-batter hit a four on the 5th ball of the 19th over and then hit the next ball towards deep backward point. There was enough time for a single, but Suryakumar Yadav, who was batting at 98*, denied it as he wanted the strike in the next over.

Suryakumar Yadav took a double on the first ball of the 20th over to complete his 4th ton in T20I cricket. However, on the next ball he got dismissed while trying to hit a six. Suryakumar Yadav finished his innings with 100 runs off 56 balls, with 7 fours and 8 sixes. After the India captain completed his ton, some fans were left furious with him and they slammed him for playing for his personal milestones.
