Kolkata Knight Riders [KKR] co-owner and Bollywood Superstar, Shah Rukh Khan, has expressed his disappointment at his teams’ soul-crushing defeat against defending champions Mumbai Indians besides apologizing to all the franchises’ loyalists.
Chasing 152 to win, Kolkata Knight Riders were in cruise mode during the first 15 overs of their innings with Nitish Rana smoking yet another half-century.
With 40 runs needed off last overs and six wickets still in the bank, what could have gone wrong for the Knight Riders? Well! Lots.
Rahul Chahar, who had taken three top-order wickets, sent Nitish Rana packing after the southpaw walked past a slider.
That wicket proved to be the beginning of the end for Kolkata Knight Riders as Krunal Pandya dismissed Shakib Al Hasan in the next over to bring together Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell at the crease.
Russell (8* off 11 balls) and Andre Russell (9 off 15 balls) swung like rusty gates for a majority of the last five overs as KKR eventually ended up 10 runs short of the target.
“Disappointing performance. to say the least @KKRiders apologies to all the fans?” wrote Shah Rukh Khan on Twitter.

The 10-run defeat is KKR’s 22nd loss against the Mumbai Indians in 28 encounters, and the manner in which they lost just reiterated the psychological hold that MI has on the two-time champions.
