The King of Bollywood had joined the KKR players for celebration after greeting the crowd that had turned up in numbers at the Chepauk stadium. Given the kind of personality Shah Rukh Khan is, it was very normal to see him giving it back to the people who supported the Knight Riders throughout the course of the season.
Shah Rukh Khan has also been very supportive of the team regardless of their situation during the league and that is a major reason why KKR was able to win. The Bollywood actor had also joined Harshit Rana for celebrations and it's when the former made the flying kiss gesture towards the camera.
It became a viral moment and when Harshit Rana was interviewed by the Indian Express, the right-arm seamer revealed why Shah Rukh Khan did so. "Yes, after I got banned for 1 match, I was very sad & then SRK sir came to me & said 'We will celebrate the IPL with a flying kiss', he promised me & made sure that we did with Trophy". - Rana told the Indian Express.
Why is the Flying Kiss celebration so controversial
The flying kiss celebration was made famous as well as infamous by the same Harshit Rana during the IPL 2024 league stage. Rana first pulled off the celebration when KKR first met SRH in the 2024 season. He had given a flying kiss sending off to Mayank Agarwal for which Rana was fined one percent of his match fees.
Then during a reverse clash between KKR and RCB, Harshit Rana had almost attempted the same celebration and for that, he was banned from a game. During his appearance in the IPL final, Rana had figures of 2/24 from his quota of 4 overs.
