Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) has re-signed Pakistan mystery spinner Usman Tariq for the upcoming CPL 2026 after playing a key role in the last season. The Knight Riders, owned by Shah Rukh Khan, have also signed USA all-rounder Amshi de Silva and South Africa batter Matthew Breetzke for the new season.
The CPL will run from August 7 to September 20 across a record-equalling eight countries. The seven-team tournament will overlap with The Hundred, the European T20 Premier League (ETPL), and the Lanka Premier League (LPL) playoffs.
Matches will be played in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Trinbago Knight Riders Retain Usman Tariq for CPL 2026
Usman Tariq is currently playing for Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred. However, with the Caribbean Premier League overlapping with The Hundred this season, it remains unclear whether he will be available for all of Trinbago Knight Riders' matches.
The defending champions have also signed USA bowling all-rounder Amshi de Silva, who impressed head coach Dwayne Bravo during Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026. Representing Texas Super Kings, De Silva regularly bowled yorkers at speeds above 140 km/h.
Trinbago Knight Riders have also added South Africa batter Matthew Breetzke for the 2026 season. The franchise has also retained Sunil Narine, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, and Akeal Hosein.
Guyana Amazon Warriors Strengthen Overseas Squad for CPL 2026
Last season's runners-up Guyana Amazon Warriors have re-signed 47-year-old South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir. The franchise has also added Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi, giving the team another experienced spin option for the spin-friendly conditions in Guyana.
New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips will return to the CPL after a six-year absence. He is recovering from a side injury that ruled him out of New Zealand's ODI series in the Caribbean and the Global Super League in Guyana.
Phillips suffered the injury during the second Test against England at The Oval, where he scored his maiden Test century. If fit, he is expected to play an important role with both bat and ball for the Amazon Warriors.
Patriots and Falcons Add Overseas Firepower
St Kitts & Nevis Patriots have signed Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah, who could face his brother Hunain Shah, a member of the Jamaica Kingsmen squad. The Patriots have also strengthened their overseas group with Wanindu Hasaranga, Waqar Salamkheil, and Nikhil Chaudhary.
Tim Seifert and Noor Ahmad will return to St Lucia Kings, with Noor set to form a strong spin partnership with Maheesh Theekshana. Meanwhile, USA fast bowler Shadley van Schalkwyk is set for his first CPL season after helping LA Knight Riders win the MLC 2026 title.
The Antigua & Barbuda Falcons have boosted their spin attack by signing Shadab Khan and Sufiyan Moqim. Both players will be available for only seven matches because of their commitments in the ETPL. However, Moeen Ali and Kusal Perera will be available for the entire CPL season.
