The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly set to tackle disciplinary issues related to the players in the national cricket team. The Pakistan Cricket Board has formed a special committee to meticulously decide the actions against players who breach team discipline in the national cricket team.

The action from the Pakistan Board comes after a rift within the Pakistan team after their disappointing recent ICC T20 World Cup 2024 performance. Shaheen Afridi and Babar Azam reportedly had differences during the marquee tournament, where they suffered a group stage exit.

The Babar Azam-led side suffered a surprising defeat to the United States of America (USA) in their first game. They lost by a narrow 6 runs in a 120-run chase against eventual champions India. The 2009 champions were knocked out of the tournament without advancing to the Super Eight stage.

After Pakistan's poor performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, Babar Azam stepped down as captain. Shaheen Afridi took over the captaincy in the shorter format but was removed after just one series. Babar was reappointed before the T20 World Cup, which sparked rumors about team unity.

Pakistan Cricket Board All Set To Take Action Against Disciplinary Issues - Report

According to Samaa TV, the Pakistan Cricket Board will review three detailed reports on player conduct, compiled by the head coach, team manager, and an independent intelligence agency. This review comes after concerns about internal issues following poor performances in recent tournaments.

A special committee has been established to carefully review the reports on player conduct. According to media reports, a former captain will lead this committee, which will guide the disciplinary actions to be taken based on the findings.

The committee's recommendations will be essential in deciding the disciplinary actions for players who breach team conduct. The goal is to ensure that all decisions are fair and based on a thorough evaluation of the available evidence.

Pakistan To Take On Bangladesh In Their Next Series

Pakistan will next be seen in action during the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home. The Men in Green will face Bangladesh in the first match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, starting on August 21. The series will conclude with the second match in Karachi from August 30 to September 3.

The upcoming red-ball series is crucial for Pakistan as part of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle. Pakistan is currently in fifth place in the WTC points table with a Points Percentage of 36.66. They have secured two wins out of five matches in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle.

The Pakistan team will host England and the West Indies for a red-ball series. They will also host South Africa and New Zealand for an ODI tri-series before the Champions Trophy 2025, which is set to be played in February-March next year. The Men in Green have a packed schedule until next year's ICC event.
